Khalid bin Al-Walid
• Ebubekir Subaşı
“Now, I feel myself in the valley of Yarmuk,
which is narrow for people with the shouts
of ‘Allah, Allah!’ amid the sounds of horses.
By Allah, I asked my Allah to resurrect me in
every war and to sustain of that war.”
Then he stopped for a while and said:
“I make my will, raise me up…”
They stood up. “Bring my sword!” “Why, sir?”
“I don’t want to die like a camel that dies with
a growl on its nose. These eyes did not sleep
like cowards.”

Alparslan
• Ebubekir Subaşı
After the Friday prayer in the Malazgirt Plain,
all the soldiers said goodbye to each other. Al-
parslan was wearing a white dress. Turning to
his soldiers, he said:
“My soldiers! There is no sultan but Allah
here. Command and destiny are entirely in
His hands. Therefore, you are free to fight with
me or not. I am one of you and I will fight with
you. If I am martyred here, let this dress be my
shroud and bury me where I was shot.”
After this speech, the soldiers excitedly said,
“We will never leave your command!” they
cried. And Alparslan, drawing the sword, said,
“Bismillah!” He rode his horse like lightning
against the Byzantine army.
